About

The Hiroshima Panels International Exhibition Research Group

In 2022, the Hiroshima Panels International Exhibition Research Group started to investigate into a forgotten history of a significant international tour of the Hiroshima Panels from the 1950s to the 1970s. We study the international touring exhibition, showing how the paintings were received among 20 countries during the Cold War period. We are interested in art and politics in the Cold War, nuclear culture and transnational/transcultural memory.

This project is supported by the Maruki Gallery for the Hiroshima Panels and Hisako Maruki.
